The Regional Adult Education Program of Lee, Scott and Wise and Norton Public Schools (RAE) is coordinating with Mountain Empire Community College to assist students enrolled in or wishing to enroll in classes at the College who need remediation in English and Math. College Ready remediation classes are now offered free of cost by RAE on the campus of MECC in Godwin Hall, Room 118.
All prospective students at the College are assessed in English and math using the Virginia Placement Tests (VPT) to determine whether remediation through developmental classes is needed. Students who improve their scores on these tests may be able to exempt out of developmental classes at the College, saving them both time and educational expenses. The Regional Adult Education College Ready Class is designed to help MECC students achieve higher assessment scores on the VPT.
