New GED® Grad Gerald Morris
Gerald Morris of Gate City was a man on a mission when he enrolled in GED® Classes in Gate City on January 6, 2014. Morris had an employment opportunity awaiting him, and he had a pressing need to prepare for the new GED® Exam and complete the battery of tests as quickly as possible.
Morris, with the assistance of a team of Adult Ed Instructors, embarked on a course of studies that included day time and evening classes, as well as on-line distance learning instruction from home. Because of his fast-track approach, he was able to prepare for the battery of tests and pass the Exam in just over six weeks, making him the first student in our region to pass the new, on-line version of the GED® Exam.
The new test, which was implemented in January of this year, has been designed to meet current career and college readiness standards. Passing the exam sends a clear signal to employers and post-secondary institutions that a student earning a GED® has the credentials to meet current challenges.
