Ring Of Fire

In September, Regional Adult Education of Lee, Scott, Wise and Norton Public Schools was honored to partner with the Barter Theater and the Carter Fold in bringing Ring of Fire, the story of June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash, to the historic Carter Fold stage.  The one-night production at the Fold was presented to a sold-out, standing-room-only audience of enthusiastic fans.

Janette Carter in 1992 opened the Carter Fold for the first regional GED® Celebration in Southwest Virginia.  Regional Adult Education views the Program’s sponsorship of this production as an important tribute to the respect Janette showed GED® students and graduates.

Allison Mays, Director of Advancement at Barter Theatre said, after the standing room only performance, “We felt so honored to bring this show to the place that meant so much to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, and to the place that still means so much to the people who embrace the legacy, history and heart of The Carter Family Fold.  Audience members were clapping, laughing, tapping their feet, singing and even moved to tears by the memory of June and Johnny.  It was amazing to be able to bring them back to The Fold.”
