Meet Instructor Judy Samples! She has been helping students earn their GEDs for almost 30 years.
Judy teaches in two of our classroom sites, one at the Center for Workforce Innovation of Appalachia and one on the campus of Mountain Empire Community College, which she says provides students with unique opportunities to explore their future educational and career goals. Currently, she is serving students through online instruction while our physical classroom sites remain closed.
“I have been working with GED students just shy of 30 years. When I say it like that, it seems so long, but I am still as excited as I was about working with students from the very first day. Although we are known for our GED classes, we do so much more than that. Working for Adult Education has allowed me to help students in many different ways, including job readiness, computer training, and financial literacy. I’ve met so many wonderful people, coworkers, and students alike. We are able to help students improve their lives, and who wouldn’t like that?,” says Judy.
She encourages interested students to jump in and begin! “Most students think about it for a long time before coming to us. We’re waiting for you!”
